AIC-GGSIPU and LUB sign MoU to support MSMEs with technology and innovation

NEW DELHI: Atal Incubation Centre (AIC)-Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) and Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) on Monday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing the capacity of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through technology solutions, research-driven insights, and training focused on innovation. The signing ceremony was attended by several prominent individuals from the university and industry sectors.

The collaboration seeks to address various business challenges faced by MSMEs and promote sustainable growth through digital transformation and advanced management practices. The partnership will also emphasize green technologies and Net Zero goals.

Collaboration to drive digital transformation and sustainability

The MoU outlines AIC-GGSIPU’s commitment to supporting MSMEs through a range of technological solutions and research-driven strategies. This includes offering business solutions to address challenges such as market linkages, digital tools, and resource optimization. The partnership will focus on implementing sustainable manufacturing practices, which will help MSMEs become more efficient and eco-friendly.

One of the key components of the collaboration is the establishment of a Knowledge Bank Initiative. This will provide MSMEs with access to research, case studies, and policy advocacy, which will support informed decision-making. By fostering these resources, the initiative aims to equip MSMEs with the necessary knowledge and tools to thrive in an increasingly competitive market.

Key participants and their vision

The signing ceremony was attended by several distinguished figures from both AIC-GGSIPU and LUB. Among those present were Vice Chancellor of GGSIPU Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, who emphasized the significance of industry-academic partnerships in nurturing entrepreneurship. "Such collaborations are essential in bridging the gap between academic research and practical industry needs, which benefits both sectors," he said, highlighting the crucial role of these partnerships in fostering innovation and supporting business growth.

Hemant Kumar Srivastava, CEO of AIC-GGSIPU, reaffirmed the center’s dedication to empowering MSMEs by providing them with access to cutting-edge technologies and innovations. "Our goal is to foster the growth of MSMEs through research and technological advancements that can make a real difference in their operations and market performance," said Srivastava.

The event also saw contributions from key members of LUB, including Om Prakash Gupta (National General Secretary), Aarti Sehgal (National Co-ordinator, CSIR | Secretary, Delhi Chapter), and Anju Bajaj (All India Secretary). They all expressed their commitment to supporting MSMEs through collaboration and shared resources.

AIC-GGSIPU’s role in promoting green technologies

The partnership also emphasizes green technologies, aligning with the global Net Zero goals. As part of the initiative, both organizations will work to incorporate environmental sustainability into MSMEs’ operational frameworks. This collaboration aims to provide MSMEs with tools to reduce their carbon footprint and adopt greener practices in their manufacturing processes.

Dr. Sudeep Kumar, Director of Research and Innovation at GGSIPU, added that "the partnership would help MSMEs adopt practices that not only improve their efficiency but also contribute to the long-term sustainability of the environment."

The MoU is expected to create significant opportunities for MSMEs to integrate advanced technologies, improve their management practices, and contribute to sustainable development goals. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in supporting the growth and innovation of India’s MSME sector.
