Telecom Argentina signs ten-year solar power deal with MSU Green Energy
Argentina’s leading telco provider, Telecom Argentina, has signed a ten-year solar supply agreement with MSU Green Energy for 60,000MWh of solar energy per year.
MSU will supply the energy from its 130MW Pampa del Infierno solar park, located in the northeastern province of Chaco.
The solar farm will supply power to more than 100 of Telecom Argentina’s operational buildings distributed across its network.
The solar farm has been operational since August 2024 and is the third largest in the country.
The telco has already signed several renewable supply agreements. Last year, it inked a ten-year sustainable energy supply agreement with Genneia and YPF Luz for 159,700MWh per year, or around 22 percent of its total annual consumption.
According to its 2023 sustainability report, Telecom Argentina also has 22 hybrid sites with a renewable energy generation capacity of 140MWh per year.
Telecom Argentina provides telco services to northern Argentina, including Buenos Aires. Last year, it announced plans to expand its 5G Standalone network in specific corridors with high-income customers.
MSU Green Energy is an Argentinian renewable energy developer with a development pipeline of projects exceeding 1GW. It has nine solar projects in construction or operation across the country with a combined capacity of 480MW.
Telco companies are increasingly signing renewable energy supply agreements to decarbonize their supply chain.
In 2025, several companies have already committed to renewable energy supply.
Earlier this month, Orange Romania signed a ten-year virtual Power Purchase Agreement with Engie Romania that will cover 40GWh of Orange Romania’s annual electricity requirements.
Before this, European telco firm United Group invested €120 million ($125.1 million) to develop four renewable energy projects in Bulgaria.
