Tokyo experiences Swiss energy innovation
Five Swiss startups have been selected to showcase their innovations at the SWISS Pavilion, which will be featured at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan’s largest international exhibition center, from February 19–21, 2025. The startups are developing solutions to shape the future of clean energy.
The Consulate of Switzerland, Swissnex in Japan is bringing some of Switzerland’s most forward-thinking startups in renewable energy, hydrogen, battery technology, and cleantech to the Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo 2025, a business platform for professionals from around 60 countries worldwide. With about 72,000 visitors, it provides a stage for 1,600 exhibitors to showcase how their innovations boost efficiency and enhance sustainability. Over 200 conferences are organized to provide a deeper insight into the challenges and opportunities for the energy industry.
As a global connector in science, education, and innovation, Swissnex in Japan fosters collaboration between Switzerland and Japan—and this year, five outstanding startups will present their solutions at the SWISS Pavilion (East Hall, Booth E6-6). The event takes place from 19-21 February
The selected startups are:
SAMAWATT AG – optimizing renewable energy trading with AI-driven software that maximizes the financial value of renewable energy and battery storage assets. Targeting wind and solar park operators, the startup last year managed 650W of installed capacity across Japan and 12 European countries, delivering up to 50% higher net profits for energy producers.
8inks – revolutionizing battery manufacturing with a unique curtain multi-layer coating process, enabling scalable, next-generation stacked battery architectures that optimize both performance and cost.
Voltiris – developed the first solar modules compatible with greenhouse agriculture and their crops. Using spectral filtering to transmit essential light to crops while redirecting the unused spectrum to solar panels. This allows growers to utilize their large greenhouse surfaces to generate clean energy to transition to carbon-free electrification.
Neology Hydrogen – is transforming off-grid power generation with its ammonia-to-power technology, which features a low-temperature catalyst, integrated reactor, zero-emission heating and built-in fuel cell for efficient energy management for producing clean hydrogen. Designed for applications in construction, EV charging, microgrids, ports, and data centers, the startup has secured first project contracts in Europe, the US and Japan.
GraphEnergyTech – is disrupting the solar industry with carbon-based electrodes, replacing silver in solar panels with a material that is 87% cheaper and 97% greener, making clean energy more affordable and sustainable.
