OSC Packaging Innovation deadline nears

All nominations for the One Step Closer Packaging Innovation Awards are due Wednesday, Feb. 19.

These awards celebrate advancements in packaging design, sustainability and functionality, made possible by innovators who push the boundaries of what’s possible. Those innovators set new industry standards and address global challenges with their cutting-edge solutions.

One Step Closer encourages brands that are prioritizing environmental stewardship and making strides to increase sustainable packaging and manufacturing to apply for the 2025 awards. Applicants should be committed to advancing the sustainability of their packaging and lifecycle management.

Judges of this year’s competition are Lara Dickinson of One Step Closer; Stephanie Barger, True Zero Waste; Rhodes Yepsen, Biodegradable Products Institute; Natalie Kra, Resonance; and Laura Foti of SpecRight.

Last year’s winners were MYO Cosmetic Cases for Supply Chain Waste Reduction; The Refill Shoppe for Innovation in Refillable; and Square Baby for Material Innovation.

Applications will be judged in three divisions: innovation in materials by brands; innovation in materials by material providers; and innovation in refillable packaging. Applications are available here.

One winner from each category will receive a 2025 Impakt Award, which will include a free one-year membership to the OSC Packaging Collaborative. All entrants receive a 50% discount on a one-year membership to the Collaborative. Winners will be notified on Feb. 26 and announced publicly at Natural Products Expo West.

Awards will be presented during the State of Sustainable Packaging Super Session at 10 a.m. March 5 in Grand Ballroom E at the Marriott.
